Leadership Experience

I’m running for Director of CVRD Electoral Area D–Cowichan Bay because I believe local government should listen carefully, manage public money responsibly and make practical decisions that reflect the needs of the community. I also believe in actively engaging with residents and keeping them informed about the decisions being made by their local government.
My background includes 10 years with the Royal Canadian Navy, 14 years managing IT with UNBC, 15 years as a business owner in the agricultural equipment industry. During my time in the Royal Canadian Navy as an electronics technician, I learned the importance of discipline, teamwork and accountability.
My 14 years at the University of Northern British Columbia, I managed a unionized team and worked within a large public institution to balance competing priorities, solve problems and deliver essential services.
In 2009, my wife and I became the owners and Dealer Principals of Huber Farm Equipment, a Kubota dealership in Prince George. During our fifteen years in business, we grew the company to as many as 20 employees and opened a second location in Smithers. That experience taught me to manage budgets carefully, navigate regulations, plan for the future and take responsibility for the results of every decision.
We purchased our current home in Cowichan Bay in 2016. When we first visited the area in 2012 we knew immediately that this is where we wanted to live. From 2016 – 2023 we lived here about 6 months of the year and the other 6 months in Prince George. We moved permanently to the area in 2023 when we fully retired.
My community service has included serving as President of the Prince George Farmers’ Market, participating on the Prince George Air Advisory Committee and representing Canada on the international board of the Equipment Dealers Association.
As a Cowichan Bay resident, my priorities include responsible growth, support for agriculture and local businesses, sensible rural housing options, meaningful public consultation and measurable value for taxpayers.
I will bring an independent and balanced approach to the CVRD—asking difficult questions, examining the facts, working constructively with others and communicating openly with residents.
